Sen̓áḵw Progress: Zenon Group and Canada’s Landmark Indigenous Housing Project

By the end of this year, the first residents will be able to rent units in Tower 1 of the landmark Sen̓áḵw development.

Located on Squamish Nation land at Kits Point, adjacent to Vanier Park in Vancouver, BC. Once fully complete, the project will deliver more than 7,200 apartments across 11 towers on 4.2 hectares of land.

With a budget exceeding $1.4 billion, Sen̓áḵw is not only the largest Indigenous-led housing development in Canadian history, but also Canada’s first large-scale net-zero carbon residential project. Heating and cooling will be provided through a 10MW district energy system, which recovers waste heat from Metro Vancouver’s adjacent sewer infrastructure, with a goal of achieving 100% greenhouse-gas-free operation.

Sen̓áḵw is envisioned as a car-lite, transit-oriented community, emphasizing active transportation options, ample bike storage, and open courtyards designed to support social connection, commerce, and recreation.
