Construction of new warehouse for Trox UK is completed

The construction of a new warehouse and distribution facility for TROX UK in Thetford has now been successfully completed and officially handed over.

Designed by Rees Pryer Architects and constructed by Mixbrow Construction, the new 20,000 sq ft facility including an undercroft car park and a canopy linking it to the existing building was completed in just 34 weeks.

A distinctive feature of the project is the undercroft car park located beneath the warehouse. Darren Webb, Managing Director of Mixbrow Construction, explained:“The design was more complex than a typical project due to the inclusion of the undercroft parking, which we proposed as an alternative solution. This allowed for 42 parking spaces beneath the building, freeing up valuable space elsewhere on the site.”

Due to the project’s complexity, Zenon Group (before Superstructures) was engaged to develop the structural design using advanced 3D modelling software. This enabled rapid testing of design concepts to ensure feasibility and cost efficiency.

TROX UK, a manufacturer of air conditioning and ventilation systems, has been based in Thetford since 1971 and employs around 150 people. The new facility supports the company’s long-term expansion plans.

The project was delivered through a strong local collaboration, including civil engineering design by Attleborough-based BHA.
