Landmark development in Felixstowe enters final phase

The development of a new iconic seafront café in Felixstowe is entering its final phase, marking a significant milestone in the town’s ongoing regeneration.

As part of continued investment in Felixstowe’s South Seafront, Barnes Construction began work on the landmark café in August last year and is now approaching completion, with the project expected to be finished later this summer.

Once complete, the café will play an important role in supporting the town’s recovery following the impact of COVID-19. Offering both indoor and outdoor dining with uninterrupted sea views, the development is set to attract both local visitors and tourists, contributing to the local economy and creating employment opportunities.

The project is being delivered through a collaborative effort involving East Suffolk Council, Barnes Construction, The Dedham Boathouse Group, Plaice Design, Zenon Group (before Superstructures), and Gill Associates.

Following the easing of national restrictions, representatives from East Suffolk Council, including Cllr Steve Gallant, Cllr Craig Rivett, and Cllr Steve Wiles, visited the site and welcomed the progress made despite the challenges presented by the pandemic.

In a joint statement, they said:“Despite the challenges caused by COVID-19, we are pleased that work has continued on this transformative development. The new café will play a key role in revitalising the South Seafront, creating a vibrant destination where people can visit, meet, and spend time.”
