New Factory takes shape for Holden Timber

Construction of a new factory for Holden Timber Engineering (HTE) in Claydon is progressing well, supported by the use of advanced 3D structural design software.

Zenon Group (before Superstructures) has been responsible for the structural design, working alongside architect Nigel Bultitude of Felixstowe. The use of Tekla Structures 3D modelling software has provided an accurate visual representation of the building, enabling an efficient and well-coordinated design process across a variety of construction materials.

Construction began in spring on the new 1,400 square metre facility, which will include office space and additional support areas. The building features a steel frame with clear span portal frames, creating a column-free industrial space designed to accommodate hoists and lifting equipment for the manufacture of roof trusses, metal web joists, and attic trusses. Timber preservation treatment will also be carried out on site.

Holden Timber Engineering, founded in 1998 and previously based in Duke Street near Ipswich’s historic docklands, has expanded several times. The new site offers excellent access to key transport routes including the A14, A12, and A140.
