Zenon Group (before Superstructures) is proud to celebrate a significant professional achievement, with one of its engineers receiving recognition for outstanding structural design.

Chartered Structural Engineer Simon Howes has been awarded a Commendation Award for Structural Excellence by the East Anglia Regional Group of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE). The recognition highlights his role as lead designer on the new Health and Wellbeing Building at the University of Suffolk in Ipswich.

Simon, part of the team at Zenon Group (before Superstructures), was praised by the judging panel for delivering an efficient and carefully detailed structural solution that supported the architectural vision of the project.

In particular, the judges commended how his work enabled the creation of an aesthetically striking feature lift tower as part of the refurbishment and upgrade of an existing campus building.

The £13 million scheme, formerly known as the East Building, was delivered through a collaborative project team including Barnes Construction, KLH Architects, Castons, and JSH.

Simon is pictured receiving his commendation from the President of the Institution of Structural Engineers.
