Topping out takes place on the landing hotel at london biggin hill airport

A key milestone has been reached in the construction of The Landing Hotel at London Biggin Hill Airport, with the project celebrating its topping out ceremony.

Held on site, the topping out ceremony marks the building becoming watertight and signals the transition into the internal fit-out phase of the 56-bedroom, 4-star boutique hotel.

Steven Thorne-Farrar, General Manager of The Landing, commented:“The Landing hotel is nearing completion and our thanks go to the excellent construction team Barnes Construction, Powell Dobson, Russell Doughty, and Zenon Group (before Superstructures) for delivering such a high-quality building. We are now looking forward to progressing with the interior fit-out and bringing the full vision to life.”

Bob Steward, Joint Managing Director of Barnes Construction, added:“We are pleased with the progress on site. With the roof insulation and membrane now complete, making the building watertight, we can move forward with internal works and the installation of key services, including roof-mounted plant and photovoltaic panels.”

Located at the end of the runway, the hotel will offer unique views across the airport, with its lounge, bar, and restaurant named The Approach positioned on the first floor. The Landing is scheduled to open in January 2023.
