Zenon Group Appointed to Project Team for the New Ottawa Hospital

Zenon (previously CES) have been engaged as the owners third-party commissioning agent for the new Ottawa Hospital.
The Ottawa Hospital is aiming to bring a new state-of-the-art health care facility and academic research center to downtown Ottawa by 2028-2029. It is Ottawa’s largest-ever health infrastructure project, totaling 2.5 million sq. ft on a 50-acre site.
Zenon Group (previously CES) will be an integral part of this exciting project throughout the entire process of development as owner’s third-party commissioning agent, ensuring the building systems will operate efficiently and executing the integration plan between the hospital and new central utility plant that will support it.
The new facility will encompass most advanced Trauma Centers in Canada and a larger, more efficient emergency department. Every patient will have their own room with accessible washroom. The site will also include dedicated research facilities, including a cutting-edge neurological research center.
The construction will create more than 4,000 full time jobs and generate a total economic output of almost $4 billion. After construction, about 6,000 people will work at the new campus which will become one of Canada’s most modern and technologically advanced academic research hospitals with one of the most innovative neuroscience research programs in the world.
The new facility with have 641 single patient rooms with privacy and space for families to spend the night. It is developed with sustainable design principles and a low carbon footprint and will be replacing the almost 100 years old Civic Campus.
