Zenon Group Welcomes Maddie McTaggart as Global Sustainability Lead

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Maddie McTaggart as our Global Sustainability Lead, based in our London office.

Maddie brings over 15 years of experience in energy and built environment ESG consulting, with a strong focus on delivering decarbonisation strategies across real estate and infrastructure projects in the UK and internationally. Her expertise spans campus master-planning, district energy networks, and large-scale sustainability programmes.

A Strategic Approach to Decarbonisation

Maddie specialises in aligning sustainability strategies with corporate and property objectives, supporting improved environmental performance, regulatory compliance, and transparency. Her experience covers the full project lifecycle, from early-stage advisory and feasibility through to construction and operation, helping clients define and implement clear pathways to net zero.

Her project experience includes Local Area Energy Plans across London, Smart Local Energy Systems in Wales, and campus-wide energy strategies for major universities and institutions.

Maddie has extensive experience managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex projects. Her technical expertise includes techno-economic modelling, energy strategy development, and the preparation of business cases in line with the Green Book methodology. She also advises clients on policy, compliance requirements, and emerging regulatory changes.

Alongside her project work, Maddie supports and guides junior team members, contributing to collaborative and effective project delivery. She is motivated by the role of the built environment in supporting sustainable and equitable outcomes.

Qualifications and Professional Memberships

Maddie is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a Member of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (MCIBSE). She holds an MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems from London South Bank University and a BEng (Hons) in Architectural Environment Engineering from the University of Nottingham.
